ASSOCIATION OF GREEK VALUERS

 MEMBERSHIP RULES

 

1. Introduction

 

According to A.Va.G.'s By-Laws (article 4), the Association's members fall into the following categories:

- Regular members, i.e. persons exercising the profession of valuer and engaging on a regular, professional basis in preparing valuations, having the necessary formal and actual qualifications as instituted by the Association, and accepting the Association's operating principles and Code of Conduct.

- Junior members, i.e. those that have the necessary formal qualifications but lack the required experience, and accept the Association's operating principles and Code of Conduct.

- Honorary members, i.e. persons who have provided excellent service to A.Va.G., the State, society, and have contributed to the advancement of the Science of Valuation in Greece.

 

The present Rules set out the formal and actual qualifications and the procedure for admitting regular members to A.Va.G.; they must be read in conjunction with the Association's By-Laws.

 

2. FORMAL QUALIFICATIONS

 

2.1. A.Va.G.'s junior and regular members must hold a degree of a higher education institution (Greek, or foreign but recognised by the Greek Govt. as equally ranked) comprising a course of at least three years, in the following disciplines:

- Technical/Technology-oriented Sciences (engineers of various grades)

- Financial/Legal-oriented Sciences

- Valuation Science

 

2.2. A.Va.G.'s regular members holding a Technical - Technology degree must have a basic knowledge of the economic sciences, to be acquired by completing successfully a special seminar provided by A.Va.G. or an entity recognised by A.Va.G. (e.g. EL.I.E.) and to be certified by a diploma granted after the candidate has sat successfully for an examination on the curriculum.

 

2.3. A.Va.G.'s regular members holding a degree in Economics - Law must have a basic knowledge of technical-technology issues concerning the object of their valuations (real estate assets), to be acquired by completing successfully a special seminar provided by A.Va.G. or an entity recognised by A.Va.G. (e.g. EL.I.E.).

 

2.4. A.Va.G.'s regular members must also be members of a professional certification body operating in Greece and enjoying European or worldwide recognition. If no such entities operate, it is desirable, but not required, that they be members of a corresponding recognised international entity (e.g. RICS, ASA, etc.).

 

2.5. Junior members having the formal qualifications of para. 2.1 must also acquire the formal qualifications of paras. 2.2, 2.3 and 2.4 in order to upgrade their status in A.Va.G. to that of a regular member.

 

3. ACTUAL QUALIFICATIONS

 

The actual qualifications of candidates for A.Va.G. membership must combine their academic, formal qualifications and their professional experience, as shown in the table below:

3. Academic degree in Valuation science

* Concurrent membership of a recognised international professional certification entity (e.g. RICS or ASA) reduces the above terms by 1 year.

 

Note that the period of continuous work in generating valuations will be certified:

- for those employed on a permanent (salaried) basis          , by testimonials by their employers;

- for free-lance professionals, either by testimonials by their principals/employers or by copies of ratified invoices-receipts indicating the candidate's engagement in producing valuations.

 

4. INTERIM PROVISIONS

 

During the first five (5) years of A.Va.G.'s operation the Association will accept for registration members having academic titles of higher or post-graduate education in the disciplines of para. 2.1 and the practical experience of section 3. Such members must, within 3 years from their registration with A.Va.G., attend the seminars described in paras. 2.2 and 2.3.

 

5. CASE-FILE DOSSIERS

 

A.Va.G. members must maintain personal dossiers of the cases they undertake, using the form of Appendix A.

They must submit this dossier to A.Va.G. if so requested.

 

6. CUSTOMER COMPLAINT FILE

 

A.Va.G. members must maintain a file of the complaints they receive, whether verbally (using the form given in Appendix B) or in writing. The file must also document the actions undertaken by the member towards rectifying the Customer's Complaint. This file must be submitted to A.Va.G. if so requested.
